Dear Bigtable users,
We are excited to announce the launch of Key Visualizer (beta) for Cloud Bigtable!
Key Visualizer lets you discover your Cloud Bigtable usage patterns, by generating reports for your tables that break down your usage based on the row keys that you access.
Key Visualizer can provide insight into usage patterns at scale that are difficult to understand otherwise. Use Key Visualizer to troubleshoot performance issues and get a better understanding of how you use the data that you store in Cloud Bigtable. For example, Key Visualizer can help you:
Check whether your reads or writes are creating hotspots on specific rows
Find rows that contain too much data
Look at whether your access patterns are balanced across all of the rows in a table
Key Visualizer reports are generated automatically for eligible tables, and have no performance impact on your Cloud Bigtable cluster.
Additionally, if you are coming to GCP NEXT SF next week, we have an exciting session on Cloud Bigtable & Key Visualizer with Steve Niemitz from Twitter, who will present how they used Key Visualizer to iterate over their schema, and how they use Cloud Bigtable in their production environment. You can pre-register for this session via the link above.
And here's what a Key Visualizer heatmap might look for your project:
We hope Key Visualizer will help you optimize your Cloud Bigtable applications and we look forward to your feedback.
Best,
Misha
