zoom and torch features

I'm working with the CameraX App, trying to make it more advanced.  I'm trying to use the zoom feature with a slider, and the torch feature (with a slider if possible).  I'm getting nowhere and have started over multiple times.  Can someone point me in the right direction or to some code, if it exists?
